Noninvasive Ventilation and Data Management for the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Patient

This workshop reviews the disease process of ALS and how it impacts the respiratory system while the patient is both awake and asleep. The American Academy of Neurology guidelines for the care of the ALS patient are reviewed and respiratory therapy equipment used for patients with ALS in the homecare environment is discussed. This presentation also discusses the management of the respiratory process of the ALS patient and monitoring of the progression of the disease.

Clearing the Air on Airway Clearance

This workshop focuses on the importance of maintaining a clear airway for patients who suffer from chronic conditions affecting the respiratory system. This presentation explores the differences between mobilizing and clearing bronchial secretions as well as providing practical guidance to participants on choosing the most appropriate therapy.
Matching Patient Needs to Portable Home Oxygen Equipment

This workshop is aimed at increasing the knowledge of practitioners who work with home oxygen patients that require portable oxygen equipment. The session will cover methods of matching portable oxygen equipment to patient needs. It will also help attendees gain a greater understanding of the clinical and operational difference between portable oxygen equipment. A special focus will be placed on pulse dose technology and its application and role in portable oxygen equipment. Finally, the session will cover the issues faced by patients using portable oxygen equipment when traveling by land, sea and air.
