Respironics provides a variety of Continuing Education programs for Respiratory Therapists, Case Managers, Sleep Technicians and Nurses. All of the programs below have been approved for continuing education credits. Please contact your local Respironics representative for more information regarding these programs.



Central Sleep Apnea vs. Complex Apnea: How do They Differ?
Approved by AARC and AAST • 1 HOUR
This program was developed to educate respiratory therapists and sleep technologists on the difference between complex apnea and central sleep apnea. Examples of idiopathic central apnea, complex sleep apnea, and Cheyne-Stokes respiration will be discussed, along with their respective PSG findings. Treatment suggestions and use of various PAP modalities for these forms of sleep apnea will be reviewed.



The Link Between OSA and Stroke
Approved by AARC, AAST, CCMC, and ASNA • 1 HOUR
This workshop reviews the prevalence of stroke and the impact of sleep-disordered breathing. Participants will discuss the association between OSA and stroke and will review the benefits of PAP therapy for patients with OSA. The possibility of stroke in patients with risk factors for OSA will be reviewed, and ways to improve medical management of stroke patients who also suffer from OSA will be discussed.



The Link Between OSA , Obesity and Diabetes
Approved by AARC, AAST, CCMC, and ASNA • 1 HOUR
This workshop reviews the prevalence of diabetes and impact of sleep-disordered breathing. Participants will discuss the association between OSA and diabetes and will review the benefits of PAP therapy for patients with OSA. The possibility of diabetes in patients with risk factors for OSA will be reviewed, and ways to improve medical management of diabetes patients who also suffer from OSA will be discussed.



Sleep Disordered Breathing and Cardiovascular Disease
Approved by AARC, AAST, CCMC, and ASNA • 1 HOUR
This workshop reviews the pathology of heart failure and discusses the current trends in treatment of heart failure, hypertension, and cardiac arrhythmias. Participants will discuss the association between OSA and CHF, refractory HTN and atrial fibrillation. Information on how to identify patients with a sleep disorder will be presented, and the benefits of PAP therapy for OSA patients will be reviewed.



The ABCs of OSA: An Overview of Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Approved by AARC, AAST, CCMC, and ASNA • 1 HOUR
This workshop provides a broad overview of OSA, including its prevalence, pathology, health consequences, economic impact, diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of the disease. This presentation also discusses the link between OSA and associated co-morbidities, such as: CHF, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, Type II diabetes, pain management, anesthesia and bariatric surgery.
